Character limit to submissions

I tried to submit a story of about 12400 characters, but the rejection message said the limit is 15000 characters.

Are short horizontal lines and spaces between paragraphs inserted for overall readability included in this count? If so, I'll keep my stories shorter...LOL.

Are short horizontal lines and spaces between paragraphs inserted for overall readability included in this count? If so, I'll keep my stories shorter...LOL.

Space and other non letter characters are still counted in most online character counts.

Stories are typically better received on here if they are in parts anyway, give your audience something to look forward too!
