This is an event which happened a few years ago in a popular North Yorkshire seaside resort. I believe that this tale is worth sharing.
My wife Hannah and I stayed in a guest house with another couple for a few days break. The guest house was originally a single storey bungalow, but the roof loft had been converted to incorporate a further three bedroom's and a bathroom.
Because these three extra rooms were built into the roof, there were no standard windows in any of the rooms. Instead, there was a Velux window fitted into the ceiling of each room.
For those that are not familiar with Velux windows, they are fitted into the tiled roof and will only open a few inches upward. They're only purpose is to provide light and ventilation into a room within a sloping roof.
Following our first night in the lodge, our friend Pauline was in the bathroom getting a morning shower. Suddenly we heard what I can describe as an excited squeal, and her voice rang out, Hannah, come up here , you have got to see this.
Hannah ran upstairs and all we could hear was the two girls laughing and obviously enjoying something, but what? Our curiosity was aroused so my friend Fred and I went upstairs to see what was causing all the hilarity.
We went upstairs and found the two girls standing side by side, looking through a three inch opening in the Velux window.
Adjacent to our guest house was another single storey bungalow which was separated from the guest house by a narrow footpath with a six foot fence either side. From their vantage point, the girls could see over the two fences, through the bay window into the living room opposite.
The girls were still giggling and laughing when we got into the bathroom,but, they stood aside so we could see what was so amusing.
Here's what we saw. There was a man laid on his back, on a settee watching something on his computer screen which was laid on his stomach.
Because of the six foot fence outside his window, he couldn't be seen from the footpath, but he was easily seen from the vantage point that the girls occupied.
So, he was laid sideways on in the bay window and it doesn't take much imagination to realise what he was viewing.
