Most definitely friends. We have been in the swinger lifestyle for over 20 years and have made a lot of friends. Not only do we enjoy the sexual play together we do many other things where sex couldn't happen such as family gatherings, etc.

Made quite a few friends over the years, but I have noticed that - with one or two exceptions - when they leave the lifestyle or that "connection" is broken, they vanish. It stung a little in my early years, because you expect proper friendships to last regardless of changing circumstances. Now I adopt an easy come, easy go approach.
We have had a mix over the years, strangers for one offs, some guys became regular and some became friends and are still to this day, some of my friends became involved sexually with us, some of my wife’s friends did the same.
