Good luck to you. I am hoping for my wife to get back into it before long. We have taken about a 5 year break and just haven't made any effort to start back up. What was/is the reason for your 5 year break? On the other hand if there were some unpleasant experiences she may not see the benefit(s), like it had fun moments but there was too much drama or disappointment to offset that fun. We just stopped in 2020 because of Covid and a few health issues for both of us. I just realized I didn't say all that I should have about the HRT. My wife has been on it before, and started it sometime in her early to mid 50's. She had all of the problems most ladies face around that age with menopause. She had a complete hysterectomy due to a lot of those problems and went on the HRT after the hysterectomy. Hot flashes, night sweats, grouchiness, always tired, no libido.....all of that vanished like dust in the wind when she went on the HRT. It didn't take me long to figure out I needed to eat more Wheaties because her libido went into overdrive! She has used several different doctors for the HRT over the years but liked the first one she ever went to the best. That doctor worked for a practice that went under because of mismanagement that was no fault of her doctor. My wife found out that this doctor now has her own practice an hour away from us, so she made an appointment immediately. I'd advise not to push too hard about it if she is skeptical. The risk with it gets blown way out of proportion just like any new medicine you see advertised on TV. The lawyers get more air time in the commercials than the doctors do.
I don't know what the "real" reason is that my wife is opposed to HRT. She simply says she has no interest in doing it. So I don't push it. I can't help but dream that it would jump start her libido like it did for your wife. But, I know better than to even bother trying to subtle about her trying it, it has to be something she wants and until then things are as they are.
Has your wife had any bad experience at all physically with the treatment? I realize having to find multiple doctors is/was a downside for you. Did your wife wish she had gone on it earlier?
The only bad experience she had with it was with the last doctor she used. She loved the doctor herself, but apparently the method that particular doctor used to insert the pellet was not as good as others had done. Twice, she had pellets work their way out and pop back thru her skin. She calls them Tic Tac's, because that is truly what they look like. The doctor makes an incision in the upper part of a butt cheek and inserts the pellet down in the incision a half inch or so. The pellet releases the needed hormones gradually over the next 3 months and then she goes back and gets another one. They were a game changer for my wife, and she did say she wishes she had learned about the treatment sooner. She started menopause in her mid to late 30's and suffered thru all that entails until she was 50, had the hysterectomy and then started HRT. She's 66 now, and I'm 68, so we're hoping she gets as much benefit from it as she has before. As far as I'm concerned....I can't wait to test drive this new penile implant! A couple of pumps and it will be so hard a cat couldn't scratch it....and last as long as I need or want it to. 🙂
