Women's fear of being perceived as 'slutty' is entirely borne of that dreadful societal control mechanism created by men. For years there have been those men who 'judge' women on their sexual preferences and behaviours whilst expecting their own to be free of scorn. It's that old adage of a man being a 'stud' if he enjoys ...... with multiple women, whereas a women is a 'slut'. It's a mechanism that insecure men use to try and control female sexuality. The bizarre element to it is in how some women have readily gone along with it, the pearl clutchers, for want of a better term.
I don't agree that many women have fragile ego's, in fact, given the ...... they have to put up with from a ton of men, I think they show a remarkable strength of character and a resilience that is both admirable and unique to their gender. It's true that there will always be sheep, both men and women, who only do what they think everyone else is doing, irrespective of whether that's repressive and to their detriment, but my wife and I have noticed interesting cultural changes in things like, for example, a swingers club we visit. It used to be only couples and single men who visited but in the year before covid shut things down we saw an increasing amount of single women who were visiting the club. When talking with some of them it was apparent that the changing view of these women was that the environment was safer than a vanilla pub or club, and they could express their sexuality more freely. They also said that they didn't fear (or care) about the sort of male judgement that might come from certain quarters of society that are still languishing in the dark ages. More and more women are shedding the yoke of repression that male insecurity has burdened them with for so long, which I feel is empowering to all of us in society, save for those who find the strength and power of female sexuality so threatening.
