Why do people bother? do they really think this will give them any chance of success?

Because some people put in no effort. I am sure it is worse for you being female, but I even I get ones that I just shake my head at. For myself, I get a lot of “I want to fuck your wife, send me a picture.” I delete them and move on.

This is adult fun to be had by adults. However there are a lot of people who act in a juvenile way. Also, I try to separate, or rather discern the real and pretend people people.
