For my part I think that home porn should be as it is with no editing, tricks or lighting etc. That's what makes it exciting. I'm talking of course about amateur porn.

From my point of view 'amateur ' means unstaged go with the flow... yes start with an idea rather than story. I would say having good lighting either natural or artificial really help.

We've made several. I personally like using just the camera on our phones. We've used a good camera some but I end up having to compress the files to save space and make it easier to share with others.
