Insecurity is hard for someone on the outside to understand. We see ourselves in such a harsh critical light. My wife won’t wear skirts because she thinks her ankles look too thick. The people that do look perfect spend a lot of time, energy and money to look that way. It’s impossible to hold yourself to the standards you see from the affluent or the famous.

I don't know what's worse, having a wife that has never been interested in sex for recreation or one that has and now finds herself in an uninterested place. That's a good point. I do believe this happens to both men and women. It takes even more perseverance and dedication to stay in shape if it wasn't a priority all along. It's an easy out to give up on "feeling" sexual when you don't see yourself as desirable. In my case we've been together a long time (45 years) and keeping that attractiveness requires a conscious effort.
